Gates Wide was split this past weekend on Friday night as Adam performed at the Blue Moon Cafe in Eufaula, AL and Kevin spent his night with the youth of West View Baptist Church.
Adam enjoyed his night with the crowd that gathered at the Blue Moon Cafe in Eufaula as he packed the house at one point with 30 to 40 people packing the small cafe. Adam performed several original songs as well as a few covers for the ones who were in attendance. Fun times at the Blue Moon Cafe.
Kevin also had a great night at West View Baptist in Enterprise, AL as 25 youth came to have a night of fun and fellowship and faith building. The night started with food which is always good and the standards were provided from two of the major food groups....pizza and hot dogs! My favorite was a dish prepared by a couple of adults who were in attendance....Sausage Stuff!!! I believe I could have just ingested Sausage Stuff and that would have been enough to sustain me for several days. And yes I walked away with the ingredients and preparation instructions!!! Following the food, Rick Hayes...the pastor...had the youth do an ice breaker game which was a lot of fun. The youth drew a picture of one member of the group they were placed in and tried to have the best, most recognizable picture. Once the ice breaker was complete and voting on the best picture completed, one of the youth shared a testimony of her struggles with her walk with the Lord. It was a riveting and moving testimony that left most in tears or at least having to choke back tears. My time of the service immediately followed the testimony and I had to switch gears to accommodate for the great words of hope that were shared from this 14 year old girl. I performed a couple of original songs that helped the words she shared sink a little deeper as they were appropriate for her testimony. You know what time was next....ah yes....it's worship time, baby!!! We danced, we sang, we shared!!! The message also went over really well as their hearts were already softened to receive the word. Once the night was complete many were crying again as the entire group circled and prayed and leaned on each other. It was truly an awesome night.
Gates Wide is off again this next week...I am sure we will practice a couple times this week but I will keep you posted.

Gates Wide This Week
Gates Wide has been slow this week as well as last week but this weekend that will change somewhat. We are actually splitting up this weekend to play in a couple different places. Adam will be playing at a coffee shop in Eufaula, AL. Adam has a CD that he recorded with some of his original work that he is promoting in addition to his role in Gates Wide. Kevin will be leading worship at a youth rally for Westview Baptist Church in Enterprise, AL. He will also be sharing the word with the teens who attend the rally. Both of these events will be on Friday night at 7:00 in there respective places.
Sorry that I have not updated in the last several days but I have been extremely busy with my "real" job along with working on my mom's house. Let's just say I am glad construction is not my career choice.

The Week Ahead
Gates Wide has no shows this week but will be practicing a few times as we continue to prepare for May. We may even write one or two songs this week if God places the thoughts in our heads and hearts. Who knows what will happen when praises flow to God? That is really the cool thing about practicing praise songs. No matter what you sing you always walk away uplifted and smiling.
What is happening in May? We are planning to record at least a 3 song demo or maybe a 6 song EP of all original songs. We will be able to start a MySpace music page with actual music on it and maybe even a FaceBook music page. (Our MySpace page exist but has no music, pics.....well anything really....but it is coming soon.) Pray that God works that out so we can at least get some music up for everyone to hear the heart that God has placed within us.
Just a quick tidbit of info....we have a FaceBook group for Gates Wide at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54451118173 or you can just search for groups and enter Gates Wide.
Haha! I like that "enter Gates Wide."
Please go join if you have a facebook profile.
God is amazing.

First Concert and The Worst Trip to McDonald's Ever
Gates Wide first concert is in the books! Here is a snippet of one song we performed tonight. The clip was taken on my digital camera (not digital video camera) and turned out pretty good considering that fact. Enjoy!
Thank you to those who attended tonight's concert. We are moved by all of your comments and the chocolate cake was delicious.
Trip to Mickey D's (Worst to Date)
Adam and I went to McDonald's after we finished packing our equipment. Nothing is like going to McDonald's after a concert. The only thing better is going to either Waffle House, Huddle House, or Denny's and eating breakfast at 10:00 PM. Tonight was an interesting trip to this particular McDonald's. I ordered a Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese combo large sized with a Dr Pepper to drink. My meal came out very quickly and I was ready in probably 2 minutes to sit down and eat my double clogged artery with cheese. Adam decided to order the same thing (copycatter!) which took what seemed like 15 minutes to prepare. In the meantime we witnessed some interesting happenings. First, I don't think anyone on this staff likes anyone else. A worker was fussing about not wanting to get off at 1:00 again and that they needed to get finished by 12:00 so she could..."Get tow up! And that she might even throw up!" (This is the nicest thing I can post of what she said...so you can imagine the rest or maybe you don't want to imagine the rest. I would not advise it!) A container of tea was spilled behind the counter. Threats were made. And one cook said he was just trying to survive the night which I completely believed. All the while Adam and I are looking at each other in amazement (The root of which is one of Adam's favorite words....Amazing). Adam finally got his food and we sat down to eat. Adam's food was hot as it just came off of the grill. My food was not because it was in my bag the entire time Adam's was being prepared. We asked the blessing. And dug into the food...Adam commented, "Not bad!" I replied, "Well, mine was probably NOT BAD about 15 minutes ago but it is cold now." Ahhhhh....Mickey D's, I'm Lovin' It!

Tonight in Concert
Tonight is the big night!
Brantley Baptist Church, Brantley, AL @ 7:00 PM
Adam and I will be doing our first concert under the name, Gates Wide. Our plan was to perform for 35 minutes but the other performer canceled due to illness and so now we have an entire hour. Please pray for special guidance as we only planned around 45 minutes worth of songs and so we are going to have to improvise. If you are close by and want a great night of praise and worship, drop in on us. We would love for you to come and worship with us. We are not performers...we are worshipers. How exciting....how nervous....how awesome is this.
If you can't make it pray that God moves in mighty way.

The Week Ahead
God really continues to amaze me as this whole endeavor continues to develop. I have been given some positive feedback about the new blog and new ministry...Gates Wide. Please provide us with feedback if you have any words of wisdom or comments (both positive and negative). Adam and I are extremely excited about the days, weeks, and months ahead. We definitely have a lot of work to do in our attempt to get ready for our upcoming events and the looming recording deadline (more on that in a later post).
The Week Ahead:
Gates Wide will be leading worship twice this week on Friday (3-6-09) and Saturday night (3-7-09).
On Friday, Gates Wide will be leading worship at Brantley Baptist Church in Brantley, AL. The service will start at 7:00 as we have a Night of Praise and Worship at Brantley Baptist Church. Popular worship songs along with original material will be presented and for those who know me, you know I will share a little testimony as well. This event is kind of special for me as my dad was the music director at Brantley Baptist Church for a few years. Also this will be our first service as Gates Wide. Fun stuff!
On Saturday, Gates Wide will be leading worship at Jesus Jam 2 in Brundidge, AL at Salem Baptist Church. We will be sharing testimony and a nugget message along with leading worship and performing a few original songs as well. Jesus Jam 2 starts at 6:00 on Saturday, 3-7-09. (Youth Event)
Hopefully, I will have some pics of both of these events to share later.
